The MATTA FAIR debut in 1991 as an annual event with 80 booths and a visitor turnout of nine thousand. It has since evolved into a bi-annual event drawing crowds as high as over 100 thousand visitors during one of the fairs. Exhibitor participation has also increased over the years to over 800 booths since year 2005.
The MATTA FAIR is a 3-day event which has since earned the title of Malaysia's No.1 Travel Fair from the Malaysia Book of Records.
MATTA's objective is to promote the interests of the travel and tour industry in Malaysia. MATTA works closely with the Ministry of Tourism (Motour) as well as Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB), help organise fairs, seminars, convention and workshops both to create public awareness of the tourism industry as well as to benefit its members.
The highlights of this year MATTA Fair 2011 will be deals on Resorts World Sentosa. There're others tour packages to China, Taiwan, Macau, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Maldives, Russia, US, Europe, London, UK, France, Italy, Switzerland, South Africa, Jordan, South Korea, Japan, UAE, Dubai, Qatar, Nepal and many more.
MATTA Fair deputy organising chairman Boris Chang added that travellers looking to buy tickets during the fair should keep in mind the possible increase in ticket prices after paying a deposit.
“Consumers who choose to pay a deposit first should be aware that a surge in the fare may happen later due to unforeseen circumstances,” he said. (source : thestar.com)
