Galeria Perdana showcases various awards, souvenirs and gifts received by the fourth Malaysian Prime Minister The Honourable Tun Dr. Mahathir b. Mohamad and wife The Honourable Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah bt. Mohd. Ali from world leaders and statesmen as well as Malaysian in his tenure as the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
This is in line with Tun's belief that the collection belong to the people of Malaysia. Through these gestures of friendship from all over the world, visitors will have the opportunity to appreciate the uniqueness and diversity of various arts and culture portrayed.
Galeria Perdana also serves to express Tun's appreciation and acknowledgement of the generosity from various donors.
Galeria Perdana consists of 3 interconnected two-storey oriental architectural design buildings in Kilim, 11 km from Kuah Town. The exhibits displayed are diverse in nature to achieve the ambience of a harmonious and creactive interaction among the various artistic, cultural values and aesthetics portrayed by the numerous exhibits from all over the world.
The Galleria Perdana is Opened Daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on normal days, and from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on School Holidays and Public Holidays.
The Entrance fee is as follows:-
Malaysians
Adults = RM 5.00
Child = RM 2.00 (under 12 yrs of age)
Foreigners
Adults = RM 10.00
Child = RM 4.00 (under 12 yrs of age)
If you wish to bring a Camera into the Galleria, you would have to pay an extra RM 2.00 and if you wish to bring a Video Camera into the Galleria, you would have to pay an extra RM 5.00.
Collection:
More than 9000 collections comprising various materials and media are displayed by rotation. Only 2000 collections can be displayed at any one time and will be replaced by other collections to ensure visitors can view different collections every time they visit the Perdana Gallery.
Block A:
Exhibits unique gifts and souvenirs made of wood, lacquer, crystal and glass. An interesting array of beautiful gemstones and musical instruments also from part. House items made of porcelain and luxurious textiles. As Islam is the official religion of Malaysia, one may also view gifts presented to Tun Dr. Mahathir that are Islamic in nature.
Block B:
As the beloved and respected wife of Tun Dr. Mahathir, Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah also received many finely crafted gifts both from Heads of states as well as members of the public. All of them are exhibited in the first floor. Also exhibited on the ground floor are gifts made from silver, bronze, pewter and copper.
Block C:
On this floor is a collection of exquisite paintings, jewellry and other gifts received by the former Prime Minister from all over the world. Vehicles and miniature models of vehicles as well as structure models are exhibited here on the ground floor of the newest block of Geleria Perdana.
