Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2010 (KLIMS), 3-12 Dec 2010

The Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) is back again for its 7th presentation to delight car enthusiasts and motoring reviewers from the region!

The KLIMS instalment was officiated by YB Dato’ Seri Kong Cho Ha, Minister of Transport at the Putra World Trade Centre. Themed ‘We Care’, KLIMS 2010 brings to the public one of the most elaborated showcases featuring green technology vehicles, concept cars and production models, underlining the pledge made by industry players for a greener and more sustainable motoring future.

Attractions include three future generation Lotus sports cars which were only recently unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, a total of 6 concept cars showcased by well known and established car brands including Hyundai, Toyota, Mitsubishi and Perodua, a 16-feet tall replica of Bumblebee, the well known yellow Chevy Camaro SS and character from the Hollywood blockbuster, and also from the Silver Screen, Gotham City’s Batman and Batmobile.

PROTON will be celebrating 25 years of automotive history with one of the largest displays at the motor show which will be held from 3-12 December 2010 at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur. (Above) - EMAS concept hybrid car. This concept car is a joint effort of Proton, Italdesign Giugiaro and Lotus Engineering. Emas actually mean gold in Malay language. This will be the very first hybrid plug-in car by the Proton. Emas will be powered by a 3 cylinder 1.2-litre engine developing 51 horsepower that can run on petrol, ethanol or methanol. While the electrical engine will provide a continuous power of 45 kW and 75 kW peak power. This will take Emas from 0-100km/h at 14 seconds and a top speed of 170km/h.

It will be powered by the 4B11 2.0-litre MIVEC engine as found in the Lancer. MMM says that it puts out 150 PS and 197 Nm of torque, which is slightly lower than in the Lancer, so perhaps there’s some engine tuning specific to this application. Snap models and win cash at KLIMS

The  Kuala Lumpur International Motorshow (KLIMS) from Dec 3 to 12 is a great opportunity to test your photo-taking skills with cash prizes. Prizes are RM5,000 for first place, RM3,000 for second and RM2,000 for third.

But I  did not submit any picture of models.

Apart from promoting greater awareness for green motoring, one lucky visitor to KLIMS 2010 will also be driving home a brand new Toyota Prius hybrid vehicle. Among other prizes to be won includes a 3day/2night getaway and the choice of driving either a Chevrolet Captiva or riding a Harley Davidson to their dream vacation at a NAZA Hotel.
