Nasi Kandar Beratur@Kapitan Keling,Penang (The original recipe since 1943)

Penang is famous for its local food, include nasi kandar, although I'm not a nasi kandar fan but sure I will regret if I dun give it a try when come to Penang. The locals recommend me the Nasi Kandar beratur in Kapitan keling and it is opened at 10pm !!! What the hell of food stall opened at 10pm and become the main culprit in the contribution of the chart of Malaysian Obesities. The Nasi Kandar had become a famous local traditional food stall and claim of having the most original taste amongst the rest of the Nasi Kandar restaurants in Penang since 1943 (6 decades never failed!!, who know how many generation from its owner had managed the shop?).

Nasi Kandar Beratur  is situated just next to the heritage Masjid Kapitan Keling along Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling (formerly Pitt Street). There would be a long queue slightly before the start of their business at 10.00pm. Parking should be no problem during that time, but before 9.30pm you can see people were just lining up and waited patiently - watching the restaurant staff prepare the stall (which includes clean-up, placing of the lauk containers and plates). When 10pm came, and the stall was officially open.

I was there to be the 20th customer, and to wait around 1 hour for my turn. This is my hard-earned plate of nasi kandar. nasi with ayam, telur bawang, sayur plus a big udang (separate plate). It cost me RM 15.30 !!! OMG... the but the bverall taste was good and no regret to pay the price.
